IT HAS been more than a year ago since Top Score ambassador and musician, My Nigger Get Rich gave us a coronavirus prayer song, which reached nearly 10 000 views on Youtube.
This week, the rapper released another music video for a song titled ‘Dear God’ and just like the first one, the song is a plea for divine intervention and God’s mercy during the Covid-19 pandemic wrecking havoc in the country.
“Every day we say different prayers. This is another prayer that come from my heart, with a different meaning, the last prayer has a different meaning. I realise there is more I need to offer and people need more inspiration and hope that after dark days, comes better days,” he said.
The music video was shot at his hometown of Grootfontein earlier this year and showcases different clips including Bible verses as well as a graveyard scene, to present the unfortunate reality striking the country.
The process, he said, was energy-consuming, but he gave it all with the hope that it guides people in prayers and offer comfort as well as entertainment during trying times.
“I truly believe it will bring hope to the people. I included Bible scriptures and clips alerting the world that we can’t live by bread alone, but by every word of God,” he said, adding that while he has not contracted the virus, he has lost people close to him due to the pandemic and also watched many others suffering.
“Like many of us, Covid-19 has impacted me in a way that I have struggled to find answers on what to do and how to go by every day. Blessed is I, for I have never been infected by this very disease yet, but it has affected people that are close to me and it’s my prayer that they recover and that our country heals,” he said.
