Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Thursday discussed a number of topics of concern to Egypt’s tourism sector in a bid to help it recover from the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.
Madbouli traveled to the Red Sea resort to open the first forum for the heads of African investment authorities on Friday.
In a meeting with a number of investors, Madbouli said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen on following up on the progress in implementing the projects of tourism development.
“The state spares no effort to remove all obstacles to create an environment favorable for tourism,” he stressed.
He said the government provides all forms of support for the sector and works on removing obstacles facing it.
“The government has adopted a plan to carry out huge investments, upgrade the infrastructure and promote tourism in the governorates of South Sinai and Red Sea,” he added.
All tourism staff members in Sharm, el Sheikh and Hurghada have been vaccinated against the Covid-19, he stressed.
He called for reaching out to “our tourism agents abroad to lure more new markets,” noting that the tourism and antiquities minister has reviewed a plan to promote tourism over the coming three years, which will start within the coming few months.
On the problems related to funding, Madbouli said “we are ready as a state to do anything to support the sector.”
“But hopes are pinned on you to share the state in pushing forward this sector and help it recover,” he added.
A the end of the meeting, the prime minister asked for preparing a list of projects that face obstacles and other that have stalled.
