As the FIFA Women’s World Cup draws near, CAF held a successful media training workshop for African nations participating at the Women’s FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The two-day workshop, organised by CAF, is part of the ‘Future Media Officers Programme’ – an initiate aimed at accelerating the development of media officers and communication managers in the African continent.

The main objective of the programme is to ensure that Africa produces quality media officers who will perform at the highest level in global events.

The Media Officers Workshop, currently taking place in Rabat, focuses on communication, media engagement, media relations, digital media and content creation.

Four nations will represent Africa in Australia and New Zealand: Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia.

Speaking at the workshop’s opening session, CAF Chief Operations Officer Abi Ijasanmi said: “This workshop is about making meaningful investment in the lives of individual who will be responsible for position the African women’s football story at the Women’s World Cup. The FIFA World Cup is an opportunity to showcase our professionalism and serve the media and the football family. We hope these media officers will be ambassadors of the continent, and we are proud to have them there representing the continent.”

Participants delve into areas such as effective media engagement techniques, crisis management, interview skills, social media strategies, and maximizing positive coverage.

The workshop encourages interactive learning through practical exercises and insightful case studies, providing invaluable real-world experiences to the media officers.
