Tunis/Tunisia — Tunisia tops the medals table with 3 gold medals and 1 silver, at the end of the first day of the 22nd Arab Athletics Championship, contested on Wednesday in Rades.

The three gold medals went to Nesrine Lachheb (javelin), Raouf Redissi and Chahinez Nasri (20km walk) and the silver medal to Syrine Mejri (20km walk).

Bahrain is second with 4 medals (2 gold, 2 silver), ahead of Egypt with 5 medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) and Morocco (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze).

Iraq is 4th (1 gold, 1 silver), Qatar 5th (1 silver), Algeria 6th (4 bronze) and Kuwait 6th (1 bronze).
